Joyful Noise Christian Childcare’s C-Fund is ready to give away many brand new books to young readers at the fourth consecutive “Pizza Plus Books” event on Wednesday, March 14th from 4:30-6:30 p.m., in program rooms A and B at Loutit District Library in Grand Haven!
No registration is necessary for the book fair, which is open to the public and will offer free books to underserved children from infancy up through eight years of age. Attendees can also enjoy a free pizza dinner from Domino’s as well as access to other early childhood resources.
“One of my favorite parts of our yearly event are the storytellers that read to the kids,” said Amanda Butcher, lead teacher of Joyful Noise Christian Childcare’s two-year-old program. “Even though the book fair is really busy and exciting, the children are always excited to listen to a story.”
A 2005 High Scope learning study found that “the greatest amount of brain growth occurs between birth and age five” and that nearly all of the brain’s core structure has been formed by the age of just 3 years old. A strong foundation for literacy is developed at this time, and access to age-appropriate books is an essential part of that groundwork and a cornerstone of the Joyful Noise C-Fund’s Love of Literacy program mission. The C-Fund seeks to connect young children and families with not only high-quality books but also early childhood resources to support lifelong learning.
